Divine Mercy Sunday Canonization of Blesseds Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II

The Canonization Blessed Pope John XXIII and Blessed Pope John Paul II will take place on Divine Mercy Sunday at 10:30 am ( local time ) .
The ceremony will be broadcast live on EWTN.. Set your TIVO to your local  EWTN TV channel  at 3:30am on April 27 to record live coverage. .

Minutes of the Four 2013 Pastoral Council Meetings

ST. BRIDGET'S PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETINGS
(Note: Minutes of 2014 meetings will be published as they become available)

December 5, 2013 minutes 
Members present: Father Krempa, Jodi Bonett, Michael Hobert, Mike Malucci and Stacy Sefton
HALL RENTAL/USE AGREEMENT:
The Council revisited the agreement and made some minor changes. The final agreement will be posted to the website.
WEBSITE CALENDAR:
Jodi Bonett reported that she now has a link from the website to the calendar. Groups can directly request use of the facility; Jodi can approve and post.
FINANCIAL UPDATE:
Father Krempa said we are well on our way to paying off our outstanding loan for the Hall. When we get to $200,000 remaining debt we can speak with the Diocese about the possibility of planning for a rectory.
FUTURE MEETINGS:
We set the following meeting schedule for 2014, meeting every other month on the first Thursday at 7 p.m. at Hobert Hall:

October 17, 2013 minutes
Members present: Jodi Bonett, Michael Hobert, Mike Malucci and Stacy Sefton Father Krempa was absent for the meeting. Members opted to go over the minutes from the previous meeting and make suggestions to put forth to Father Krempa.
    GENERAL UPDATES:
  1. The air conditioning units in the church were fixed
  2. The Hobert Hall dedication was a wonderful event that was well attended by our church community and promoted great fellowship.
  3. Father Krempa gave approval for the purchase of a copier for the Hall to be used by CCD, Men's Club, Women's Club and Youth Group.
  4. Announcements were written regarding the parking lot nearest the church to be read during Mass, for the bulletin and for the website.
  5. We are now offering gluten-free communion. Contact the rectory for further information.
  6. Stacy Sefton volunteered to make a phone list to post in the kitchen and by the alarm panel with contact names and numbers.

FACILITY USE AGREEMENT: We amended the facility use agreement again and will await approval by Father Krempa.
PROPOSED CALENDAR MEETING: We recommended that we hold a special calendar/scheduling meeting, December 5, 7 p.m. in the Hall and invite representatives from the various church groups to plan our yearly calendar and use of the Hall. The group would include one representative from each of the following groups: Women's Club, Men's Club, Youth Group, Choir, Altar Servers, CCD/Religious Education, Ushers, Lectors, the Events Coordinator, the Webmaster, the whole Pastoral Council and Father Krempa.
Jodi Bonett volunteered to draft the invitation and send it to Father Krempa for his consideration and approval.
The next meeting is scheduled for November 21, 2013, 7 p.m.

September 12, 2013 minutes
Members present: Father Krempa, Mike Malucci , Jodi Bonett and Stacy Sefton
HALL CLEANING: Father Krempa reported that we are still looking into a permanent solution to our Hall cleaning.
HALL EVENT COORDINATOR: Father Krempa announced that St. Bridget's parishioner, Becky Jackson, will be the Hobert Hall Event Coordinator.
CLARKE COUNTY MINISTERIAL ASSOCIATION: Father Krempa reported the Clarke County Ministerial Association had been in contact with him to see if our congregation wanted to be a part of assisting with the homeless in the winter. Father Krempa will discuss this outreach program further with Rev. Jonathan Bunker, pastor of the Berryville Presbyterian Church.
MAINTENANCE: Father Krempa reported that we are having problems with our air conditioning units in the church. He will speak with Carl Hales and have him look into it.
GENERAL UPDATES: Father Krempa reported:
A picture of Chet Hobert will be hung at the entrance of the Hall by the Sunday Hall dedication with Bishop Loverde.
We are looking into adding lights to the entrance of the Hall.
Our first is being held at the Hall.
In a few weeks St. Bridget's will be offering Sunday confessions, 8-8:30 a.m. Times have been set for the Christmas services. Christmas Eve will be 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Christmas Day will be 9 a.m.
HOBERT HALL DEDICATION: The dedication will be September 15. Everything is set with regard to food and program.
CHURCH CONCERNS: The following were concerns brought to the Pastoral Council by parishioners.
  1. Is there a budget for Youth Group? No, but Father Krempa is willing to set one after a year once expenses have been established.
  2. Can permanent space be allocated in the Hall for Youth Group? Yes.
  3. With regard to the literature/pamphlets outside of the Narthex, who is in charge of this? Father said no one.
  4. Could Youth Group put items in the literature area? Yes.
  5. Could Youth Group move the literature/pamphlet area inside so it could be more visible? Yes.
  6. Could Youth Group put up a more permanent display/easel? Yes.
  7. Is there a plan for a photo copier in the Hall? Father said we could purchase one to be used by CCD, Men's Club, Women's Club and the Youth Group.
  8. When will St. Bridget's get a second Sunday Mass? Father Krempa said we need a commitment from the Diocese for a permanent third priest. The most recent addition of Father Bartlett comes with a promise of him being here for only three years. Father Krempa assured members we will, in time, become our own parish with our own priest; however, it is not financially possible at this time.
  9. Parishioners are happy with the placement of the benches in the parking lot to help with those who need a rest getting inside; however, there is a request to have them dried by the ushers.
  10. There are concerns from parishioners that the closest parking lot area is being used by parishioners who could be parking further out. Could we make that lot for handicapped and/or elderly only? Father Krempa said we could make oral announcements in church and put it on the web site requesting parishioners "respect the handicapped/elderly parking lot".
  11. Father Krempa said the parish will pay for some items that are used in the kitchen; all other items will be purchased by men's and women's clubs and reimbursed.
  12. The Hall has been rekeyed. Only a limited number will be given out.

August 1, 2013 minutes
Members present: Father Krempa, Mike Malucci , Michael Hobert, Jodi Bonett and Stacy Sefton
Carl Hales attended representing finance and to give an update on Hobert Hall.
INTRODUCTION:
Father Krempa opened the meeting with a prayer and then explained the function of the Pastoral Council would be to act as an advisory group to the pastor. Without by-laws Informally for now (less structure now, though subject to change) Meet every couple of months; more frequently if a need arises Keep finance separate
HALL UPDATE:
Carl Hales gave a construction update on Hobert Hall. We owe $550,00; however, of that, $200,000 is in the form of outstanding pledges, so the debt is $350,000.
MAINTENANCE:
We discussed the possibility of hiring a part-time maintenance person in the future, finding someone to regularly clean the Hall and the need for a trash removal service.
HALL RENTAL/USE:
Rules are listed in the kitchen regarding responsibilities for use. Michael Hobert volunteered to create a rental and use agreement. Jodi Bonett volunteer to create and maintain a central calendar for Hall use. Stacy Sefton volunteered to write a job description for a Hall/Event Coordinator, which will be a paid position.
